QUBE PART B WHYALLA AND PORT ADELAIDE

Published: 25 Aug 2020

Negotiations for the Part B local arrangements in Port Adelaide and Whyalla were held in the past week for respective sites.

a. Port Adelaide: It was a tale of 2 ports where Port Adelaide progress was limited significantly with Qube once again not allocating delegates to attend and participate. Port Adelaide members have been frustrated with interpretation issues of Part B and have proposed changes that seek clarity on a number of clauses. Plans are a foot for a further round of Part B meetings where we hope delegates will be available and paid to attend.

b. Whyalla: There was more progress in Whyalla where a Labour review was held prior to Part B negotiations, this inadvertently allowed the Whyalla MUA delegates to be allocated and paid for attendance. Needless to say with delegates in attendance more headway was made, solutions proposed and drafting almost agreed. Qube are working the numbers and will revert on whether the MUA Labour Review numbers can be sustained for PFSE (permanent) and VSE positions. Based on the hours worked over the last financial year, the MUA proposal stacks up. Whether Qube agree remains to be seen.
