At the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA), we proudly stand as the voice of hardworking Australians across a diverse range of maritime industries. From the bustling ports to the vast open seas, we are dedicated to representing the interests of our members, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and a bright future for all.

From the courageous seafarers who brave the treacherous waters, transporting goods and connecting our shores, to the skilled dockworkers who unload and load cargo with precision and efficiency, we champion your contributions. Whether you're a maritime worker, a stevedore, a wharfie, a seafarer, or any other vital role in this industry, we're here to support you every step of the way.

Your Union

The Seaman's Union of Australia and Waterside Workers Federation merge to create the Maritime Union of Australia (1993). The lead-up to the merger saw the Marine Cooks Bakers and Butchers Association (formed in 1908) amalgamated with the SUA in 1983, and the Federated Marine Stewards and Pantrymen's Association merged in 1988. In 1991 the Professional Divers Association also amalgamated with the S.U.A.
