The Southern New South Wales Branch covers approximately 500 members from Port Kembla to Eden.

Our members work in Towage, Stevedoring, Diving, Port Services, Maintenance and Marine Operations. We also have Seafaring members who work on traditional Bluewater Trading Vessels, Offshore Oil / Gas / Construction and Dredging Industries.

The branch is very active within the struggles of the local Communities and Unions. We are an affiliate of the South Coast Labour Council, and a member of the Port Kembla Port Unions Committee.

Your Union

The Seaman's Union of Australia and Waterside Workers Federation merge to create the Maritime Union of Australia (1993). The lead-up to the merger saw the Marine Cooks Bakers and Butchers Association (formed in 1908) amalgamated with the SUA in 1983, and the Federated Marine Stewards and Pantrymen's Association merged in 1988. In 1991 the Professional Divers Association also amalgamated with the S.U.A.
