Online Privacy Statement

The MUA is committed to protecting your privacy and to protecting the information you give us by using this internet service and our website.  We manage your information in accordance with Privacy Laws and other relevant legislation, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth) and the National Privacy Principles.

The main purpose for the collection of information from you is to enable us to provide you with information about the activities of the MUA and to update you about current MUA and wider Trade Union campaigns that you may have an interest in.

Our Web-server collects the following statistical information:

  • The web user's server address
  • The day, date and time of visiting our website
  • The information accessed and any documents downloaded
  • The time spent visiting the website
  • The identification of the country, State and town of the visitor.

If you subscribe to an email newsletter  or complete any form or questionnaire, then we will record your name and email address to enable subsequent contact with you or to verify the accuracy of the information provided.

The MUA will not disclose or license your information to third parties for reward.  The MUA will not disclose your information unless required to by law, e.g., in response to a lawfully executed Summons, Subpoena or Warrant to Produce.

The MUA will take all reasonable precautions to protect your information by applying appropriate Security settings and by permitting access to your information to only relevantly authorised personnel.

If you have any complaints about a possible breach of this policy, please contact the MUA's Website Co-ordinator/Media Officer, Ms Z. Reynolds, in writing, at Level 2, 365-375 Sussex Street, SYDNEY 2000, and identify the conduct and circumstances which form the basis of your complaint.  We shall attempt to deal with any complaints in a timely and effective manner.

The MUA reserves the right to change or amend its Privacy Policy in order to comply with any changes to relevant legislation and regulatory compliance requirements.
