The course is designed to recognise prior learning and is in keeping

with the industry agreed position of having IR as the benchmark

in the offshore oil and gas industry.

TAFE representative, Peter Cook said that while the college considered

the course open to the public, it saw its primary responsibility

as training industry persons first.

State and federal grants and subsidies were also aimed at currently

employed people in the industry.

The meetings also included discussion of the AHTS certificate

and the bosun's course in accordance with Clause 46 of the current

EBA

It is proposed that casual workers in the industry have cost sharing

of HUET courses in certain situations.

Companies will meet the costs of permanent employees.

A full report is being prepared for the Offshore Delegates Conference

in October.
