Jamie Newlyn, SA Branch Secretary has been elected president of the states labour council SA Unions, recognition of the respect the Maritime Union carries in the labour movement. 

"I have already indicated to members via the last stop work meeting that the SA Unions President position will not detract from my duties and functions as MUA SA Branch Secretary," said Jamie.  "I regard this as further affirmation as to the respect, influence and solidarity of the MUA in the South Australian Trade Union Movement."
