FOC Rally against Leonhardt & Blumberg

By Dean Summers ITF Co-ordinator

The ITF and MUA will Rally outside the offices of NYK Shipping, 45 Clarence Street today to protest the refusal of the German charterers to sign an international minimum standards agreement for the "NYK Prestige"

In her last visit to Australia the entire Filipino crew were sacked and replaced by a Pacific Island crew who have been warned against speaking to the ITF.

Other ships under the Leonhardt and Blumberg fleet visiting Australia's major ports are the ANZDL vessels Direct Condor, Direct Jabiru and the Direct Kestrel.

There have been protests and actions against the NYK Prestige in Australia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The ITF insists that Charterers like NYK take responsibility for crews sailing under their banner.
