"The Oosterdam is currently in dry dock, I am one of the officers currently working onboard the ship. I like to stay completely anonymous, because I don’t want to lose my job. I am very concerned about the current Health and Safety circumstances on our ship. At this moment there is a lot of hot work going on in the ship to repair big cracks that are caused by too many sheer forces throughout the ship. For these repairs a lot of fire screen doors are blocked, so that means if a fire breaks out it could spread faster than normal through the ship. Some crewmembers already have no water in their cabins for days. Since this afternoon all the hot water has been switched off and probably stays off for another two days. People are working really hard, but at the end of the day they cannot even have a shower to clean their self. In my opinion all the crew should have been accommodated in hotels during this maintenance period. Also the air-conditioning is regularly switched off, so it gets really warm and humid in the ship. Also gluing of the carpets spread a lot of toxic vapors throughout the ship and in to spaces where people live."
