The Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) is proud to announce that Hunterlink Recovery Services has won the Seafarers Welfare Award at the Lloyd's List Australian Shipping & Maritime Industry Awards.
A joint initiative of the MUA and the CFMEU Mining and Energy Division, Hunterlink Recovery Services supports local residents in the challenging transition from intensive substance abuse rehabilitation back to workplace and community life.
Chair of the Hunterlink Board, MUA National Secretary Paddy Crumlin, said he was extremely proud of the work done at Hunterlink Recovery Services and that the award was a credit to all of those involved in its success.
“Hunterlink offers support services targeted specifically to the individual needs of people in their workplace, their families and the community generally,” Mr Crumlin said.
“To see Hunterlink grow so rapidly from a pilot into an award winning and vital community service fills me with enormous pride.
“I would like to thank all of those involved in making Hunterlink a great success story for their hard work and look forward to the future,” he added.
Hunterlink Recovery Services manager Paul Karras said to win an industry award of this calibre is an extraordinary achievement.
"We were competing with a lot of worthy candidates," he said.
"It really validates what we do for our clients by winning an award of such magnitude.
"The team at Hunterlink has toiled for years now to get the best outcomes for our clients and it's nice to be rewarded for that hard work."
