ITF and Port of Singapore set to realign industrial relations
Worldwide terminal operator PSA has outlined a key organisational initiative that is set to realign industrial relations, The International Transport Workers' Federation reports.
At a gathering in Singapore, on 1 December, a delegation of some 20 representatives of ITF-affiliated dockers' unions from eight countries, met with senior managers at PSA International.
The meeting was hosted by the Singapore Workers' Union and the Port Officers' Union and led by ITF dockers' section chair Paddy Crumlin, the event was also attended by ITF maritime coordinator Stephen Cotton and ITF dockers' section secretary Frank Leys.
PSA International said they want to be perceived as "employer of choice" and encouraged open communication among its 26,000 employees, unions and management.
ITF Dockers' Chair Paddy Crumlin presented an overview of the ITF's history, structure, goals and objectives, while the dockers' section secretary, Frank Leys, explained how the dockers' section worked and what it stood for.
The trade unionists also visited the state of the art Pasir Panjang Terminal and training centre
