MUA votes - 22 of 27 officials standing for re-election

All but five MUA officials will be nominating for re-election next month.

National Secretary Paddy Crumlin confirms that in accordance with Rule 45(i) he has received Notices from the following Officers advising their intentions with regard to the 2011 Quadrennial Election:

1.      Not Nominating for any Office

  • Jim Boyle (Northern NSW Branch Secretary) will not nominate for any Office of the Union.
  • Len Covell (Northern NSW Deputy Branch Secretary) will not nominate for any Office of the Union.
  • Glen Wood (Sydney Deputy Branch Secretary) will not nominate for any Office of the Union.
  • Laurie Horgan (Nth Queensland Deputy Branch Secretary) will not nominate for any Office of the Union.
  • Peder Bull (Tasmanian Deputy Branch Secretary) will not nominate for any Office of the Union

2.      Intention to Nominate for a Different Office

  • Michael Carr (Sth Queensland Branch Secretary) to nominate for the Office of Queensland Branch Secretary.
  • Trevor Munday (Sth Queensland Deputy Branch Secretary) to nominate for the Office of Queensland Deputy Branch Secretary.
  • Anthony Austin (Sth Queensland Assistant Branch Secretary) to nominate for the Office of Queensland Assistant Branch Secretary.

It should be noted that these Notices have been provided within the time required under the Rules and are irrevocable.

All other 22 officials will nominate for re-election for their current positions.

Four positions - Sydney Branch Deputy Secretary, Honorary Tasmania Deputy Branch Secretary and both NNSW positions will be vacant.
