ITF President push for Seafarers' Bill of Rights

Published: 11 Nov 2010

Ratification of the ILO Seafarers' Bill or Rights will be a significant step in tightening the noose around the neck of Flag of Convenience ships and the corruption of maritime standards in too many registries - ITF president Paddy Crumlin

The ITF president and MUA national secretary was special guest speaker at the All Japan Seamen's Congress in Tokyo yesterday, urging JSU to lobby the Japanese govt to adopt the ILO super convention.

Other issues Paddy Crumlin covered in his speech were the joint JSU/ITF/MUA campaign against German rougue ship owner Leonhardt & Blumberg, piracy, the criminalisation of seafarers, protection and extension of domestic maritime cabotage.
