S.R. Kulkarni.President.All India Port & Dock Workers' Federation has written to MUA National Secretary Paddy Crumlin to thank the union for our solidarity.

His letter is reproduced below:

Dear Bro. Paddy Crumlin,

I take this opportunity to express gratitude on behalf of port & dock workers of India to the members of the Maritime Union of Australia and the ITF Dock Workers Section for your congratulations to the members of the All India Port & Dock Workers' Federation on the successful negotiations of the wage revision and retrospective payments to them with effect from 01.01.2007. This excellent result has come after a concerted and determined campaign under my leadership and very hard work done by my colleagues in the All India Port & Dock Workers' Federation including its General Secretary, Shri P.M. Mohammed Haneef.

We assure you that we will continue our campaign with you at GTI for the reinstatement of a legitimate contract based on comparative dockers' conditions at GTI and other terminal operations using union labour, intimidation and deregulation of established dockers working standards in India.

We have already chalked out a programme of campaign, a copy of which, I believe, has been forwarded to you also by the Transport & Dock Workers' Union, Mumbai.

With warm greetings,

Yours fraternally,

S.R. Kulkarni.
President.
All India Port & Dock Workers' Federation.
