Marlene Flesher - I'm in the Union

Marlene Flesher - Straddle Operator Patrick/Toll Port Botany

Marlene Flesher, 31, admires all the worlds working mothers. As a stevedore and mother she knows the challenges of juggling family and work.

She has a son, Ethan who has just started High School. It's been a struggle for Marlene being a casual for 6 years and trying to work around her child. Now she is permanent hopefully life will be easier for them both.

She has been at Patricks/Toll Port Botany for seven years and has been in the union just as long.

She says unions are vital. "If you think you can take on the big bosses by yourself then have a go, see how far you get!"
