Women@Work: International CampaignsUnions for Women CampaignThe ICFTU has launched a 3 year international women's campaign. "Unions for Women, Women for Unions"
ObjectivesThe main objective of the Campaign is to significantly increase women's membership rates, with the ultimate goal of doubling the number of women union members. In addition, the Campaign aims at breaking down the barriers to women becoming union members, activists and leaders. Target groupsThe target groups of the Campaign will be women workers in the informal economy and a-typical workers, young women, migrant women and women from ethnic minorities. It must be stressed, however, that the Campaign provides space to identify additional and more specific objectives and target groups at the national and regional levels. ActivitiesCampaign activities and strategies will focus on intensifying current activities on organising women into unions, initiating where appropriate new programmes, and promoting implementation of gender policies. Publications (press releases, articles, brochures, etc.) will be sent out on a regular basis and published on the ICFTU/Global unions Websites. ThemeUnder the overall slogan "Unions for Women, Women for Unions", there will be a theme for each year of the Campaign, on which activities and publications will focus. For this year, the theme is: "Women's Right to Decent Work" which encompasses issues such as equal pay for work of equal value, job security, respect for and valuing of all types of women's work (temporary, casual, part-time, home-based, etc.); recognition of and legal and social protection for vulnerable groups (migrants, ethnic minorities, informal sector), equal opportunities and treatment at work, health and safety at work, etc. The ITF and many other Global Union Federations have signed up to this campaign.
