Women

Women currently make up approximately 5.18% of the MUA's membership and that number is growing! MUA Women is intended to provide women with support and a sense of sisterhood within the union. Initiatives like this one are aimed at reducing feelings of isolation and alienation, and set about strengthening our women activists.

Mad Menstrual May: a report by Brenda Easton

Most of the female staff working on board SPOT 1&2 are MUA members. In the last 5 or so years there have been a small core of us who actively participate in union activities and activism. As the Spirits are hospitality based we are continually challenged to embrace new crew members that may or may not come from a trade union background, and they may not initially be receptive to being involved in any form of unionism.
