One hundred years of a union's life is an occasion well worth celebrating and the publication of the historical background of the period is a most appropriate way of doing that.
The real value of such a publication is its ability to serve as an educator to the now wider makeup of our nation which includes - in addition to the traditional waterside workers - tradesmen, clerks and (in the case of the Fremantle Branch) grain-handlers.
