|Team Captain: MUA Deputy National Secretary Mick Doleman|
The Maritime Union of Australia is proud to be taking part in this year’s Movember campaign.
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches around the world. With their “Mo’s” men raise vital funds and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer and mental health. As an independent global charity, Movember’s vision is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health.
Throughout this month Maritime Union of Australia members and staff have been growing their Mo's for this great cause.
A mustache faced Deputy National Secretary Mick Doleman, said he was extremely proud of the unions efforts to raise money for men’s health.
"The funds raised in Australia support equally the two biggest health issues men face – prostate cancer and depression,” Mr Doleman said.
“I have seen lots of pictures coming in from seafarers and wharfies and I commend the effort put in by our MUA co-MO-rades.
“So far, as a team, we have raised more than $4000 and I hope we can increase this figure before the month is out,” he added.
The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue: the national depression initiative.
