Immigration clampdown

CANBERRA: Crew members visiting Australian ports will face rigorous security checks, according to the Department of Immigration.

Starting in November, all crew members entering Australia as part of their working voyage must carry a valid passport as well as seafarers ID, such as a Sea Service Record Book or Discharge Book.

Seafarers without passports and ID will be denied entry and confined on board their vessel.
