BADGE OF HONOUR goes to Newcastle wharfies and linesmen who now boast the highest membership of the ACTU aid agency Apheda in the country.

MUA Newcastle Secretary Jim Boyle reports all 90 members at Newcastle Stevedores and linesmen from Adsteam have signed up.

"That's around $3,000 in annual members fees on top of the $8,500 the branch has raised specifically for the MUA Tsunami appeal," he said.
