SUNNIES & TAX
Maritime workers can now claim a tax deduction on sun protection items like sunglasses, hats and lotions.
The Australian Taxation Office announced in June that if your job requires you to work in the sun for all or part of the day you are eligible to make a claim using an ATO reasonable estimate of $85 - even if you do not have a receipt. And the claim can be backdated to 1998.

SYDNEY: The Hiroshima Day Rally will assemble on Saturday August 10 at noon in Town Hall Square. It will depart at 12.30pm for a rally at 1pm in Belmore Park.
The rally will commemorate the victims of the US atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The demonstrators will call on the US Government to fulfil the "unequivocal undertaking" it made in 2000 "to accomplish the total elimination" of its nuclear arsenals.
They will call on the Australian Government to end its support for the US Government's aggressive and destabilising nuclear policies.
