    Diamond Blue
The ILWU’s 33rd International Convention recessed to take action in support of a key organizing drive, marching on the Safeway store to enlist that supermarket chain’s support for the workers at the Blue Diamond almond processing plant in Sacramento. And MUA National Secretary Paddy Crumlin was there with them. Marcy Rein reports for The Dispatcher: MUA condemns Israeli invasion of Lebanon

    Bermuda Triangle
The last Australian flagged tanker sailed under the Derwent Bridge into Hobart at dusk on Saturday July 8. There awaiting its crew was a small group of media and union officials. That night one score and six brave seafarers would decide to take a stand. Stolt crew proclaim
The MUA crew of the Stolt Australia issued the following statement at a meeting onboard the vessel on Saturday, July 8: Solidarity pledges
Letters of support of the Stolt stand came in from ports and ships, as well as key international unions Labor leaders' pledge to Stolt crew
Opposition leader Kim Beazley has written to the crew of Stolt Australia promising to enforce the Navigation Act and restrict foreign vessels carrying Australian coastal cargo. The Labor leader also promised to rip up extreme laws that penalise workers with fines and prison for trying to protect their jobs. Mr Beazley wrote Logging On
He’s a fit old bloke our PM, and I don’t mean as in fit and proper. I mean he carefully plans his way through government, and goes the distance. And he is a builder of walls. Walls to exclude. Walls to contain. Walls to separate workers from workers. A small man with little steps building nasty little things while making out they’re much bigger and grander. At best he is a builder of prisons. In that oversized tracksuit of his, he continues to work away at his lame and lousy vision for Australia What they say
Quotable quotes from key players in the Stolt standoff
