May Day is the International Day for celebrating Workers Rights. This year rallies, community events and toasts are being held across the country.
Details of each states activities are:
SATURDAY MAY 1
SYDNEY: Assemble Hyde Park 12 noon for march to First Fleet Park Circular Quay. Speakers include Ark Tribe, Lee Rhiannon(Greens), Andrew Ferguson(CFMEU) Paul McAleer (MUA)
SA: Assemble 10am Victoria Square, March to Torres Parade Ground. Family picnic from 11am with kids entertainment, sausage sizzle and community stalls. Speakers include Sharan Burrow ACTU President
STH NSW: 10am Lowden Square march to Woolongong Amphitheatre Speakers include Arthur Rorris(SCLC) Rob Long(TAFE) Charly Lindsay(WUSA) Trish Corcoran(SA)
SUNDAY MAY 2
WA: Fremantle: Sunday May 2nd Esplanade Reserve 12 noon. Entertainment, performances, food and activities for the whole family
MONDAY MAY 3
NT: March 4pm 38 Woods Street Darwin
Followed by 'Sunset Sounds' free community concert with 4 bands at Bicentennial Park, The Esplanade. PLUS Kids entertainment, food stall and bar facilities.
QLD: Assemble 9am Cnr Wharf and Turbot Streets, March to RNA Showgrounds for BBQ, kids activities, MUA tent and more. T-shirts at Branch for $20
