Criminal Charges For Paspaley Shines Light On Entire Industry

The Maritime Union of Australia  (MUA) is calling for better regulation of the pearl diving industry after Paspaley Pearling Company was today issued with criminal charges over the death of pearl diver Jarrod Hampton off the Kimberley coast of Western Australia in 2012.

Alert for Divers - New Standard Comment Closing Soon

Assistant National Secretary Ian Bray is circulating the following information for Divers to assist with the information contained in the new draft of a new Standard prepared by the Joint Standards Australia/Standards New Zealand Committee SF-017, Occupational Diving, to supersede AS/NZS 2299.1:2007., and to indicate matters that impact the diving membership, and highlight some of the areas that may be of importance when forming your view for public comment in the draft.
