Bulk & General Safety Conference

In light of the tragic death of Anthony Attard, killed last month doing his job on the Tasmanian Achiever in Melbourne, the MUA has called an urgent National Safety Conference.

At the conference, on June 18 and 19, the MUA will ramp up the Waterfront Safety Campaign.

More than 70 HSRs and delegates will attending the event, representing all bulk and general stevedoring and RoRo operations around the country.

There is a safety crisis in stevedoring. Since elected, Tony Abbott has dismantled safety regulation. The Abbott Government has blocked the Stevedoring Code of Practice, and twelve other life-saving codes of practice, which they describe as ‘red tape’.
