Manual Twistlocks: Time's Up!

Risky: DON'T get out of the cage or if you must DO wear a harness

Safety and campaign short commissioned by the MUA and filmed at Patrick, Port Botany, Sydney in 2004 graphically illustrates the dangers created by old technology which forces waterside workers to labour on container cliff faces. The film, which was first screened at the National Delegate's Conference in April also introduces the joint union/employer campaign to ban manual twistlocks. Meanwhile Sydney wharfie, actor and presenter Luke Dyer demonstrates on the job how to safely use the cage and harness when working atop container stacks on the ship's deck.

Copies on DVD or video can be ordered by emailing muano@mua.org.au. It is also available as part of a compilation of Conference videos.
